DIRECTIONS:

PARKING:

The Empire State Plaza exit will take you in a semi-circle loop, with parking lots on the North and South sides.  You can park under the Plaza in visitor parking P-3 North.  (The South parking lots are on your right after you've gone left around the loop but are not open to the public.)  There is a $2 fee for parking.  After parking, take the elevator up to the Concourse ("C" on the elevator) and follow signs to the Legislative Office Building (LOB).  The buildings are connected inside and it's about a 5 minute walk.  You will need to go through security to enter the LOB so bring picture identification with you.

There is a Tulip Festival in Albany this weekend and the visitor parking may be full.  If this occurs, you can go to the Parking Garage, which is past the South parking lots.  This lot is free on weekends.  If you park here, there are stairs which will take you into the Concourse and you can follow the above directions to the Legislative Office Building (LOB) from there.  In the event that the Parking Garage is full, you can follow the signs to the Philip Street exit, take a right on Philip Street and your next right on Madison Avenue.  There is parking at the Cathedral Parking Lot, almost immediately on your left, just past Immaculate Conception Cathedral.  There is also parking further down Madison on your left in the State Museum Parking Lot.  Both of these lots are free on weekends.  If both lots are full, look for on-street parking.  The only entrances that are open in the Legislative Office Building on Saturday are the Concourse entrance (accessed by elevator through the visitor parking) and the Madison Street entrance, directly across from the NYS Museum.  There is a parking map below.

One thing to be careful of is that the Parking Garage exit (after the South parking lots) is the last exit on the Empire State Plaza loop before the entrances to 787 and the Thruway.  In the event that you miss the Parking Garage exit, take 787 south and take exit # 2, So. Pearl St./Port of Albany.  Follow the sign to 32 S and take a right on South Pearl Street.  Take this past  McDonald's on your right side (this will take quite a few blocks) and take a left on Market St.  This will take you back onto the Empire Plaza loop.

Return Trip Home - If you are in the Empire Plaza loop, follow this around past the South parking lots and follow the signs for 787 South and the NY State Thruway.  If you parked in the Parking Garage after the South lots, follow the instructions above to Madison Avenue.  Take a right on Swan Street and shortly after, you'll come to a fork in the road.  The right side is higher and takes you to downtown Albany.  Take the left side lower lane and then a quick right (follow the one way sign) and this will bring you back onto the Empire Plaza loop.  Once you pass the South parking lots, you'll see the entrance to 787 S and the New York State Thruway.
